FAQ

How much coffee should I buy? (150 g vs 1 kg)

It depends on your brewing method and how much you drink.
For freshest flavour, buy only what you will finish within 2 weeks.

General guide:

  • Filter / Plunger / Pour-over: 30 g coffee : 500 ml water
  • Espresso machines: 15–20 g per double shot

Should I buy whole beans or ground coffee?

For the best flavour, choose whole beans and grind right before brewing.
If you need pre-ground coffee, we’re happy to grind it for your brew method, but note that a universal grind setting may not perfectly suit every machine.
If you experience extraction issues, email us at shop@dairybeanz.co.nz

How should I store my coffee?

To keep your beans fresh:

  • Use an opaque, airtight container
  • Keep away from heat, sunlight, and moisture
  • Store at room temperature
  • Do not store in the fridge or freezer
  • Grind only what you need each time
  • Avoid filling the grinder hopper with all your beans

How long does coffee stay fresh?

  • Filter coffee: best from day 2 onward
  • Espresso coffee: best at 1 week
  • Beans stay good for 2–3 weeks, but flavour gradually declines — not “expired,” just less vibrant.
